Jeux olympiques de Paris 2024 : Mode et Sport s'unissent dans les tenues des athlètes pour la cérémonie d'ouverture

Paris 2024 Olympic Games: Fashion and Sport come together in the athletes' outfits for the opening ceremony

The delegations gradually revealed the outfits that their athletes wore during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, which took place on the Seine on Friday July 26, 2024. This landmark event was the scene of numerous stylistic revelations, where fashion and sport have come together harmoniously.

As the Games approached, the countdown had officially begun, and the different delegations successively revealed their athletes' outfits for the event. Often signed by renowned houses closely linked to each nation, these outfits have captivated attention.

For France, Berluti, the prestigious LVMH brand, was chosen. The house has imagined a set of uniforms featuring a tuxedo, a shirt, a belt, a scarf, a pocket square and shoes, all available in the colors of the tricolor flag. The costumes, designed in collaboration with Carine Roitfeld, featured midnight blue wool with a blue-white-red patinated collar, specially created for the occasion.

The Italians, for their part, have once again placed their trust in the great Giorgio Armani. The Italian athletes' wardrobe, unveiled during the spring-summer 2024 fashion show at Milan Men's Fashion Week in June 2023, focused on sobriety with a dark blue wardrobe adorned with the Italian flag.

The United States collaborated with Ralph Lauren for this exceptional ceremony. The brand has designed a collection made from innovative materials, reflecting its commitment to sustainability and performance. This collection also symbolized American values of elegance, quality and optimism.

Great Britain, for its part, opted for Ben Sherman, an iconic ready-to-wear brand. Their athletes wore white and black polo shirts with the “GB” logo surrounded by the colorful symbols of the four British nations. Lightweight Teddy jackets, in the colors of the British flag, completed this outfit.

Nigeria, represented by the Actively Black brand, made an impression with outfits made from Funtua cotton, a fabric produced in the eponymous Nigerian state. Male athletes wore long jackets over narrow sweatpants, while female athletes sported Buba dresses, complete with traditional headwear.

Ireland has placed its trust in designer Laura Weber and her label LW Pearl, while Portugal has renewed its collaboration with Decenio. Canada, dressed in a red uniform signed Lululemon, and Switzerland, dressed by the Zurich brand On in partnership with Ochsner Sport and Zendaya, also shone during this ceremony. Jamaica, with Puma, and the Netherlands, with The New Originals for the breaking team outfits, added a unique touch to the event. Finally, Mongolia, in collaboration with Michel & Amazonka, presented uniforms embroidered with national and Olympic symbols.

Some countries from other continents have called on French expertise. Namibia, for example, entrusted Yves Salomon with the creation of its official outfits, using the famous Swakara Astrakhan lamb for capes inspired by the dunes of the Namibian desert.

What is Lorem Ipsum?

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.
